Hammer Screw (1st and 2nd model) Winchester 1873

The hammer screw holds the hammer in place on the very early model 1873 rifles (up to ~ 89,000 serial number). This screw goes through the frame and threads into the other side of the frame. This is a long screw, being 1 5/64 inches long and having a 3/16-36 thread, and is the same on all of the early 1873 model rifles. On the 3rd model they switched to a pin (part number p124)
