This is an ORIGINAL safety bar, also called the safety catch Winchester 1894-1873-1876 lever action rifles. This part sits down in the lower tang under the safety bar spring-trigger spring. The pin in the middle of the bar sticks out of the lower tang and when the finger lever depresses this protrusion, you are then able to fire the rifle.
