Stock Oil Winchester Restorations 4 oz

This is the original Winchester Pre-64 Stock Oil developed, used and sold by John Kay in his Winchester Restorations Business for many years. John Kay was a master restorer of old Winchester guns and his company was Winchester Restorations. This is Johns oil formula, which is a 100 percent linseed oil-based formula and probably as close to the original Winchester oil as any available. Many of those advertised as Winchester stock oil. Most are not a real oil-based formula, or they do not use or use very little linseed oil. Many have a varnish type base or content. If a formula can be applied in 2 or 3 coats over a few days, then it is not a true linseed oil formula like Winchester used for most of their early guns, until the 1940s. Using a linseed oil based product takes time and effort. A real oil finish goes into the wood not on the wood. Using this product will take 30 or more days to complete the restoration and will give an original Winchester type satin hand rubbed oil finish. It can be used on old stocks & forearms and on new wood. It is not just a coat on the wood surface like a varnish. If you want something you can complete in a week or less, this is not what you want. I will be glad to sForearm you the complete instructions before you purchase so you know what is involved. You will get out of your restoration what you put into it. The PDF available below includes 8 pages of instructions on how to use and apply the oil.
