The Savage Model 23A is a bolt action .22 caliber rifle. This gun features a 5-round detachable box magazine with a Schnalbe-style stock. The receiver is tapped for a Savage No 15 extension peep sight. Introduced in the 1933, this model was discontinued in 1942.
The Model 23-AA is also a .22 caliber repeating bolt action rifle, fitted with a 23 inch round, tapered barrel and weighs a little over 6 pounds. It was chambered for .22 short, .22 long, and .22 long rifle.cartridges. It has a polished bolt, double locking lugs, and a high-speed lock. The camming action of the bolt on opening stroke gives strong primary extraction.The bolt is encased in the receiver and the bolt face is recessed. The rifle has a lever type safety. The curved, detachable magazine holds five rounds and is hrld in place by a spring catch lock. The rifle has a one-piece, pistol grip stock and forearm of selected American walnut. The sights are a white metal bead front and flat top elevator adjustment rear sight. The receiver is tapped for new No. 15 Savage aperture rear sight.
