This little screw holds on the dust cover (mortise cover) SPRING (part number 610A) on the Winchester 1873 and 1876 lever action rifle. It sits in the rectangular cutout on the front of the rail. This screw also holds on the dust cover rail on the second model 1873 and all models of the 1876. (Their rails are removable by taking these 2 screws out)
