This is the magazine ring (also called mag hanger) Winchester 1892 and 1894 rifles in large caliber (30 30; .38 .44 etc),and model 53. It is take down version and does NOT have a pin hole in the base. On the take down versions the magazine tube screws into the takedown extension so it does not need a pin to hold the tube in. This ring was also used as a second ring to help secure the magazine tube on any rifle that had a barrel longer than 30 inches.
