Winchester 1902

The Winchester Repeating Arms Company introduced the model 1902 single shot rimfire rifle in 1902 as an improved variation of their discontinued model 1900. This model 1902 rifle had a few improvements over its predicessor including the addition of a butt plate and a trigger guard with a curved extension at the rear similating a pistol grip. In 1914, the chamber was lengthened to handle 22 Extra Long in addition to the already Short and Long cartridges. This rifle had a number of smaller cost cutting changes over its 28 year production run which are minor in nature. This rifle was discontinued in 1930 with a total of 622,031 rifles manufactured.
