This is a NEW Slide cover, also called the Dust or Mortise Cover, Winchester 1873. It slides onto the rail and keeps dust and dirt out of the receiver. If you do not have the dust cover stop (part number 608A) and the screw that holds the stop onto the dust cover (part number wp617A) you will need those as well. It is a very common part that is replaced on the 73s. When compared side by side with the original dust covers of this style, these replacement parts are identical! They are fully blued and if needed you can take some steel wool and gently take off some of the bluing to match the color of your rifle. If your serial number is above 29,500 and you have rail on the top of your receiver, this is the correct part.
