This a ORIGINAL hammer Winchester 1894 (pre-64) (not set trigger). 1 st STYLE original This part is from a pre-64 Winchester 1894 sporting rifle that had a standard trigger. ( ser# bellow 699000 )Winchester used 3 different 1894 hammer designs; this hammer is the 1 st design. It has the checkering on the spur like the 2nd style but the single upper line hs a heart shape as follows the curve of the hammer.The bottom single line is also at a slight curve. This 2nd design that Winchester used is sometimes referred to as the Tombstone design and you will see them starting around serial number 700,000 up until the 3rd design started at around 1,300,000. NOTE: When looking at an original hammer to purchase you want to look at the first claw that hooks onto the sear. This is the claw that tForearms to wear out first. If this claw is worn down then the rifle will not stay in full cock position, or slip out. These hammers are original so the finishes vary.
